Winged Wednesday: Cormorant (Phalacrocoracidae)

On a recent fishing trip we spotted this Cormorant  sunning itself on some limbs that were sticking out of the water. We watched as the bird left it's perch in search of food. The Cormorant dove several times staying beneath the surface for what seemed like minutes before re-surfacing in a different location. It then returned to it's perch with wings spread out to dry in the sun, and like us, empty handed......fish weren't biting today.
